Disassembly and exploration

Sometimes the best way to learn about a product is to disassemble it, taking a look inside a MacBook Pro you can see how the backlight works to brighten the screen.

Aluminium test cuts

Test cuts were completed on aluminium offcuts using a range of industrial cutters to achieve the cleanest cut and finish with no distortion or smoke damage. cuts were later refined on MacBook lids.

Material selection, process refinement and fit

Evaluations took place on the use of acrylic vs. polycarbonate and routing vs. laser cutting. the final products make use of a laser cut white acrylic.

Sketchplorations

Refinement

Where I came in - After proper boundaries were defined, designs were taken from sketches to adobe illustrator in order to evaluate their effectiveness and ensure they encompassed the original apple logo.
